This composite image of
the Andromeda Galaxy was formed using a black-and-white photo
and a color photo. The black-and-white image was taken by Rajiv
Gupta using a refractor, and the color image by Peter Ceravolo
using a Maksutov astrograph. The 2 images were aligned by RegiStar,
and then a composite image was created using the Lab color model
in Adobe Photoshop.
for a description of how the RegiStar/Photoshop Lab technique
was used to form a composite image of the Pelican Nebula, and
here to see how this method
was used for an image of the IC 1396.
