This composite image of
the Horsehead Nebula was formed using a black-and-white photo
and a color photo. The black-and-white image was taken by Rajiv
Gupta using a refractor, and the color image by Peter Ceravolo
using a Maksutov astrograph. The 2 images were matched by RegiStar,
and a composite image was created using the Lab color model in
Adobe Photoshop.
for a description of how the RegiStar/Photoshop Lab technique
was used to form an image of the Pelican Nebula, and here
to see how this method was used for an image of the faint nebula
IC 1396.
